Unidentified armed persons shot dead a former member of the underground PLA while a family feud culminated with the younger sibbling clubbing his elder brother to death.
The former PLA member identified as Ningthoujam Tochou alias Rajen (41) s/o Amuyaima of Leimakhong Chingmang was slain by some gunmen at around 5 pm yesterday in Khurkhul Maning Shingjapokpi which is located under the jurisdiction of Sekmai police station.
According to family source, Tochou was staying at home after he was released on bail.
He was informed to have been arrested by Assam Rifles personnel about a month back.
At around 4 pm yesterday, Tochou was called out for some talks by six persons who came in a Maruti van.
Accompanied by his wife and sister-in-law (brother's wife), Tochou was driven for about a kilometre before the vehicle came to a halt and the occupants started walking for nearly 3 kms.
While the females were asked to stay put, Tochou was reportedly escorted by two armed men towards a nearby jungle in Shingjapokpi, the source informed adding that moments later some gun-shots were heard.
Tochou's body was retrieved this morning by personnel of Sekmai police station and deposited at RIMS morgue from where it was handed over to family members on completion of post mortem.
Tochou suffered bullet wounds on the forehead, right shoulder and knee areas.
The other incident took place in Torbung Bazar at around noon yesterday in which the younger sib-bling hit his brother with a heavy timber used to lock doors.
The elder brother identified as Shamulailatpam Thakur (35) of Torbung Bazar was rushed to JN Hospital where he succumbed to injuries at around 7.30 pm of the same day.
Sources informed that Thakur, in an inebriated condition started to throw tantrum at home to which the younger brother named Ibomcha (30) objected resulting in a scuffle.
