Though the indentities of the five non-Manipuris who were found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Ningthoukhong Kha-Khunou under Bishnupur Police Station last night have been established, post-mortem are likely to be conducted tomorrow.
The five victims are Raja Dey (48), Pradeep Dey (35), Pintu Dey (16), Chandan Dey (16) and Raimchu Dey (17).With the exception of Pradeep Dey and Pintu Dey who hailed from Dharma Nagar, Tripura, the rest hailed from Ramkrishna Nazar, Karimganj district of Assam.
All five of them were reportedly staying in rented rooms of one Moirangthem Mema Devi of Ningthoukhong Ward No.III and running a bakery shop.
Raja Dey was said to be the proprietor of the bakery while Pradeep Dey was the hawker and the rest worked as labourers.
Police have not been able to establish why they have been killed and who were behind the killing.
To protest the killing, Ningthoukhong Bazar observed a bandh today and a large number of womenfolk took out a procession.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur AC MLA Govindas Konthoujam has strongly condemned the killing describing it as an act of cowardice.
The MLA also shared the grief of the bereaved family members.
