Imphal, April 09:
A police team of Imphal East Dist today dispersed a sit in protest held at Wangkhei Pureiromba Keithel where prohibitory order under 144 CrPC was imposed.
The protest demonstration was held against the killing of Hidam Kulla and S Bidur.
Despite the police attempt the sit in protest was further carried out at Kongba Bazar.
The protest which was organized by the JAC against the killing of Hidam Kulla and S Bidur was attended by Meira paibis, clubs and social organization of Wangkhei and Kongba.
Most of the shops loaded between Wangkhei Pureiroroba Keithel and Kongba Bazar down their shutters today as a mark of protest against the twin killings.
The JAC's convenor B Romen during his interaction with mediapersons at the protest site informed that the suspected killers are presently lodged in the jail but lamented that the Govt has neither informed anything to the public nor the JAC in connection with the charges leveled against suspects.
The suspected murderers who are presently lodged in jail are Karam Prafullo of Sanjenthong Officer's Colony, Mrs Prafullo and Prafullo's brother-in-law and two other associates.
Questioning the rationale behind the imprisoning of the suspects if the Govt aren't sure about their deeds, the convenor and the protestors appealed to the authority concerned to give a clear picture to the people with regard to the perpetrators of the gruesome killings.
They also demanded the eviction of Prafullo's house at Sanjentong Officer's Colony which had been built on an encroached land.
All necessary preparations have made to intensify the agitation if the Govt fails to comply with the demands of the JAC, warned the convenor.
Reasons demanded: Henzunaha Youth Organisation, Lairik Yengbam Leikai has demanded to know the reason for killing Ningthoujam Tiken Singh from the outfit responsible for the deed.
The dead body of Tiken was found abandon at Japan Shikam Thongkhong under Lamlai PS on April 6.On the other hand, a Joint Action Committee has been formed in connection with the killing of Potsangbam Bokul Singh during a public meeting held at Wangoi Longjam Leikai community hall yesterday.
