Imphal, April 09:
Close on the heels of speculation that there had been concerted move to topple the SPF government or to replace the leadership the Democratic People's Party (DPP) President Khaidem Mani said there would be no change of leadership and the SPF government would last its full term as all its partners are intact.
Talking to Newmai News network Mani said that Sonia Gandhi had out rightly turned down the proposal made by Industries minister Th Devendra for the change of leadership of the Ibobi led government.
Mani said few days ago Devendra supported by Rajya Sabha Mr Rishang Keishing urged Congress President Sonia Gandhi to remove O Ibobi from the post of Chief Minister but the Congress party high command had rejected their proposal saying that this was not the right time to change the leadership.
The DPP President said the Ibobi led SPF government is on the right track and all the SPF units are happy with the present set up of the Cabinet and ministerial arrangements.
There is no difference between the SPF partners he said.
However an MLA from the Federal Party of Manipur (FPM) told NNN that Manipur will soon witness the change of guards.
He said on the condition of anonymity that a handful of Congress ministers had been hobnobbing with the opposition MLAs in a move to bring anew government in the state.
He said some of the Congress ministers, most of whom are MOS are fed up with the functioning style of the Chief Minister Ibobi and Works Minister Gaikhangam.
