Brushing aside speculations that there had been concerted effort to topple the Government or replace the leadership, Democratic People's Party (DPP) president Khaidem Mani has categorically asserted the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Government led by O Ibobi Singh would last its full term and all its coalition partners are still intact.
Talking to the Network, Mani disclosed that Sonia Gandhi has out rightly turned down the proposal made by Commerce & Industries Th Devendra for change of leadership of the SPF Government.
He said that few days back Devendra with full backing of Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing had demanded AICC (I) president Sonia Gandhi to remove Ibobi Singh from the post of Chief Minister but the Congress Party High Command had rejected their proposal saying that it was not the right time to change the leadership.
The Ibobi Ministry is trying its best to stay on the right track and it would definitely last its full term, he assured.
Ruling out difference among the SPF partners, DPP president further asserted that al) the SPF units are quite happy with the present set up of the Cabinet and Ministerial arrangements.
However, an MLA of the Federal Party Manipur (FPM) told the Network that Manipur would soon witness the change of guards in the Government.
The MLA on condition of anonymity said that a handful of Congress Ministers had been hobnobbing with the Opposition MLAs in a move to install a new Government in the State.
The Federal Party MLA also alleged some of the Congress Ministers, most of whom who hold MoS portfolios have been fed up with the functioning style of Works Minister Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi.
