The five-day long training programme on Health Management in Aquaculture being organised jointly by Directorate of Extension Education and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Andro under the sponsorship of National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) concluded at Central Agriculture University (CAU), Iroisemba today.
The session on the last day of the training programme began with Fisheries Officer, Government of Manipur H Birmani Singh presenting a paper on �Ngayok Marup (self help group) for fish farmers.
Associate Professor of College of Fisheries, Tripura Dr Rata Kumar Saha also presented a paper on �Fish diseases and their management�.
Dr Saha explained that for a fish to survive and breed in large quantity, the water body and its surrounding environment must be properly maintained.
Altogether 10 resource persons presented papers relating to Aquaculture five the five day long training programme attended by around 30 farmers from Imphal East district.
It may be noted here that out of the total estimated 17,800 fish production in Manipur, 14,280 tonnes are consumed as raw and 3520 tonnes as sun-dried or smoked whereas the estimated total consumption of fish in the State is about 23,000 tonnes.
