Under its continuous drive against tobacco products and associated items like mitha mana, two women dealing in mitha mana were pulled up by cadres of the proscribed RPF from Khwairamband Bazar today.
The two women identified as Maibam Landhoni alias Madhubala (42) w/o late Maibam Naba of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai and NS Monika (40) w/o late NS Kumar of Chingmeirong Nepali Basti were penalised by cutting their hairs.
Parading the two mitha mana dealers before media persons at a place in Imphal West district today, a spokesperson of the RPF�s Department of Communication and Publicity said that RPF cadres, acting on specific information, pulled up Landhoni and Monika along with mitha mana from Khwairamband Keithel at about 7.30 this morning.
The two women reportedly disclosed that they, together with one Sakhi who is engaged in selling kabok at Khwairamband Keithel bought the mitha mana from Senapati to sell it in Imphal, conveyed the spokesperson.
He also warned Sakhi to surrender to the outfit within five days or accept any punishment that may be given to her in future.
For defying the outfit�s prohibition against selling or transporting tobacco products and associated items in the State, Landhoni and Monika will be penalised by cutting their hairs, the spokesperson said.
Disclosing that the outfit has learnt of some individuals dealing in tobacco products and mitha mana by stockpiling these products in godowns located at Senapati, the party warned all those involved in such secretive trade practice to stop their anti-people activity immediately.
In case they refuse to pay heed to the warning, they should accept whatever punishment given to them.
Both Landhoni and Monika confessed their activities before the media persons and also stated that they will accept whatever punishment given to them by the RPF in case they ever indulge in such anti-people and anti-party activity again.
The outfit has seized and destroyed a huge quantity tobacco products and mitha mana in the last few months.
