In a historic move, the meeting between the frontal Angami organizations and the Khaplang faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) have concluded in a positive note with both sides understanding each other better.
Moreover, the fear of the denizens of the Nagaland capital that following the August 16 firing incident wherein two Angami youths were attempted on life by an NSCN-K cadre the situation would worsen has be removed with the Angami frontal organisations and the NSCN-K resolving the matter amicably through a threadbare meeting held at Hotel Fira here today.
Talking to NNN over phone after conclusion of the daylong meeting which ended around 6:30 am, the Angami Students� Union President (ASU), Kelhouneizo Yhome said that the Angami Youth Organisation and Angami Students� Union had constituted a 10-member committee yesterday to resolve the matter with the NSCN-K authority.
The committee along with the elderly organization Angami Public Organisation (APO) consisting of 18 members met with the NSCN-K authority led by its kilonser Singsong and others and had a threadbare discussion.
The Angamis had reportedly put forth eight point charter of demands including handing over of the culprit involved in the August 16 incident to then AYO & ASU before the NSCN-K representatives.

Yehokhu Sema the youths and also said that if the rival faction (NSCN-IM) moves to the designated camp than the NSCN-K would also move to the designated camps.
Besides tendering apology over the incident, the NSCN-K authority has also asserted that their cadres would not move with arms in public inhabited areas nor resort to any forms of harassment against the public.
Meanwhile, the AYO & ASU accepting the NSCN-K statements have declared that the matter is solved amicably.
Nagaland cops strike rich: In a major haul, the Nagaland police Narcotic Cell personnel stationed at Khuzama check gate, Kohima seized two pistols with ammunition and 4.45 kgs of opium and arrested four persons in this connection in separate incidents since August 21 to 26, 2007. Senior Superintendent of Police (Narcotics) confirming the report today said that at around 12:30 pm today, the Narcotics personnel during routine frisking detected and seized two 9 mm pistol with nine live rounds from the illegal possession of N.Weapon (27) and a lady Tenelah (50) both hailing from Mapum village under Ukhrul district of Manipur.
Subsequently, at around 3:15 pm, the same party seized around 450 grams of Opium from the illegal possession of Beebee Mech (30) of Tokontaka village under Dibrugarh district, Assam.
Meanwhile, sources also informed that the Khuzama Narcotic personnel seized around four kilograms of opium from the illegal possession of Anial Bharti of Paona Bazaar, Imphal and Khatiwoda of Motbung village under Senapati district on August 21 last.
In this connections separate cases have been registered while the accused taken under judicial custody for further investigation.
