Irengbam Ragini Disability Foundation(IRDF) celebrates 2nd BirthDay

The 2nd birth anniversary of Irengbam Ragini Disability Foundation was observed today at the Manipur Press Club here.
Speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour, Advocate Ng Tejkumar urged for the setting up of a legal cell for physically and mentally challenged persons so as to create a common platform for them to address their plights.
He said disabled persons should not be discriminated rather they deserve equal treatment by one all.
He exhorted the Foundation to take role in the upliftment of the disabled persons while also urging the people to extend cooperation in this endeavour.
The occasion was graced by retired IGP, M Shantikumar Singh, IPS and donor of the Foundation, Laishram Nabakumar Meitei as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, former IGP M Shantikumar said it is immoral to discriminate disabled persons.
They need physical help and moral encouragement as well, he underscored.
On the occasion the IRDF has also honoured two out of the five participants of the last year's edition of 13th Special Olympic World Summer Games �W Pritam and H Chaoba today.
A mentally challenged Pritam participated in the event of handball in the olympic.
He won the silver medal while H Chaoba participated as a coach.
Other physically challenged individuals who participated in the olympic but could not be present today were M Punsisana (winning gold medal in half marathon event), while Ch Amung and Zahao Doungel bagged the fifth position in soccer.
Physically and mentally disabled inmates have presented various activities on the occasion today.
