Hitendra alias Jiten of the proscribed KCP-MC (Hitendra group) currently under tripartite peace talk with the State and Central Governments may come over ground and contest elections after setting up a political party acceptable to the Constitution of India.
A highly reliable source informed The Sangai Express that Hitendra group has expressed intention to form a legally acceptable political party and contest elections.
The group has already held preliminary talk with the State and Central Governments at New Delhi recently.
The preliminary round of talk attended by Chief Secretary Rakesh, Principal Secretary (Home) DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar, IG (Intelligence) LM Khoute and Joint Secretary (North East) of the Ministry of Home Affairs AK Goyal was positive, conveyed the source.
The question of the UG group re-inventing itself as a legally acceptable political party and subsequent contest in elections may be determined after a second round of talk among the three sides.
Five leaders of the KCP-MC (Hitendra group attended the preliminary round of talk initiated by the Chief Secretary in accordance to a Cabinet decision adopted in this regard.
They claimed that the group has around 200 cadres, informed the source.
The Central and State Govts have also put forth the areas of negotiation that can be incorporated during the peace talk with the group.
Peace talk with Hitendra group came after KNO/KNA and UPF, umbrella organisations of several Kuki militant groups, have entered into SoO pact with both the State and Central Govt.
