Astonishingly it is not only those semi-literate people but also educated persons who accept violent agitations such as bandh and blockade as the basic means of the weaker sections to address their problems.
Associate Professor of NEHU, Dr Pfokrehrii Xavier has reportedly said that in a democratic nation like India, unless the citizens� resort to violent agitations, their grievances are not considered.
For which, bandh and blockade become one of the basic means of the weaker section of the society to address their problems against the dominant section and draw attention of the authorities concerned.
The Associate Professor made the remarks while participating in a two day seminar on 'Knowing our Rights' organised by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) on September 3 and 4 at the Indoor Stadium, Senapati District H/Q.Attended by over 800 delegates drawn from different sections of the society, the participants included Naga Frontal Organization, Tribe HOHOs, social leaders, students, intellectuals and well-wishers, a press release issued by President of SDSA, A Pfokrehrii Khrasi stated.
Apart from other speakers and guests, special focus was given on the two eminent scholars Dr Pfokrehrii Xavier, Associate Professor, NEHU, Shillong and Dr.Daniel Joseph, Assistant Director, IGNOU, Imphal who presented resource papers during the Seminar.
Dr Daniel Joseph stated the importance of understanding and creating awareness of the one's Rights.
He also emphasis on the issue of scrapping AFSPA 1958 from the state as such acts are the manifestation of denying rights to the citizens in a so called Democratic country.
Doctor Joseph while basing on the present Naga political issue gave that the Naga Civil Society should develop combating mechanism to redress the prevailing situation.
Speaking on occasion, Shri Paul Leo, former President UNC and Social activist emphasize on the Alternative arrangement of the Nagas to find solution to the present crisis in the state of Manipur.
He also gave brief presentation on the latest development of the present Naga movement.
