Imphal, Aug 05:
In protest against the indifference of the Government to plight of aided college students who have been denied education for the last 45 days, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) today launched its drive of downing Government offices.
A statement issued by MSF informed that today's drive was launched after MSF had declared on August 1 that all Government offices, excluding essential services, would be closed with effect from August 5 if the plight of the aided college students is not addressed.
Government offices closed down today and from where files were seized include Treasury Office Porompat, SDO Office of Imphal East and PWD Office, Sangakpham and SDC Office Heingang.
In Imphal West, Agriculture Office Langjing Achouba, SDO Office Lamshang, Employment Exchange Lamphelpat, SDC Office Patsoi, ZEO Office Khoyathong and Khadi Office, Lamphelpat, disclosed the statement.
Moreover in Bishnupur district too, SDO Office Nambol, Offices of Bishnupur Municipal Council, Child Development Project Bishnupur, Non-Formal Education Bishnupur and Kwakta Nagar Panchayat Sericulture project were closed during the drive today and many files were also confiscated, it mentioned.
Maintaining that the confiscated files would not returned until and unless regular classes are ensured to aided college students, it warned that more severe agitation would be launched from August 7 using all the resources and strength of MSF.
It further observed that the year long programme of "Let's us properly" being planned by MSF with the objective of ensuring quality education to each and every student of the State has been severely jeopardised by the denial of education to thousands of aided college students.
