Under the initiative of the Naga Students� Union, Chandel, a joint meeting of seven student bodies of Chandel district, namely Anal Naga Students� Union, Maring Naga Students� Union, Lamkang Naga Students� Union, Moyon Students� Union, Monsang Naga Students� Union, Tarao Naga Students� Union and Chothe Naga Students� Union was held to discuss developmental aspects of the district.
While agreeing that the developmental pace of the district needs to be accelerated, the joint meeting unanimously adopted various resolutions in this regard, a joint statement signed by president of Monsang Naga Students� Union Kh Loveson, president of Lamkang Naga Students� Union, SK Stephen, president of Moyon Naga Students� Union, Gabriel Chinir, president of Anal Naga Students� Union BS Shemhring, president of Tarao Naga Students� Union S Moses, president of Chothe Naga Students� Union Malsawn Chothe and president of Maring Naga Students� Union Kongouson Saka said.
Accordingly, the bodies urged all the district level officers and their staff members to attend to their respective office duties regularly, with particular emphasis on those officers who are virtually running their offices from their residences at Imphal.
To ensure smooth implementation of the developmental projects in Chandel district, the meeting resolved that the Tribal Development Department, Government of Manipur must effect decentralisation process of the 2007-08 fund meant for the targeted beneficiaries in the hill districts of Manipur.
While acknowledging that good road network is the pre-requisite for any developmental process, the student bodies demanded the State Government and its related Departments and contractors concerned to see that the road repairing work is started from 0 point to the district hospital, Chandel in accordance to all the conditions laid down in the work orders on or before December 15. The student bodies have also warned of taking the matter very seriously in the event of failure to meet the demands.
