Specialist doctors lacking in Moreh hospital would be provided soon, said Health Minister L Nandakumar while discussing six demands in the ongoing State assembly session yesterday.
The other demands which were passed after intense deliberations included land revenue stamps, registration and district administration, public works department, administration of justice, stationery and printing, state academy of training, medical, health and family welfare services.
Clarifying on various charges levelled by opposition members while discussing the demands, Nandakumar noted that taking into account of numerous complaints, specialist doctors would be sent to hospitals in hill districts and rural areas on rotational basis.
Life saving drugs have been made available in all the hospitals and the Government is striving hard to make up shortage of man power in these hospitals, disclosed Nandakumar.
He, however, lamented that doctors from both hill areas and valley are averse to posting in hill districts while informing that an amount of Rs 93 lakhs have been sanctioned from the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources for purchase of medical equipments.
Admitting various impediments faced by NGOs working in health sector, he asserted that many NGOs engaged in containment of AIDS are unable to work to their full potential because of several disturbances from various quarters.
JN Hospital has resumed undertaking operation in the hospital after some days of suspension, added Nandakumar.
Taking part in the discussion, Th Debendra whose portfolios also include Revenue remarked that 111 cases of fake documents concerning land ownership have been detected in Revenue Department and admitted that on account of shortage of MCS officers, administration matters have been hindered to a great extent.
Mentioning on PWD, the Minister disclosed that wrangling among NGOs for the allotment of contract work concerning Chandel-Pallel road has crippled authority to execute the work in time.
Even then he assured the House that best efforts would be put from his side to soothe the wrangling and to maintain quality of work.
Joining the session Dr Nimaichand Luwang of MPP observed that even if it appears to have administration in the valley, civil administration is non-existent in hill districts.
He alleged that employees of offices at hill district quarters do not attend their offices regularly, land records are not maintained properly.
He further questioned as to under what policy do the renovation works of some roads being undertaken without the knowledge of the State Government belong to.
