Imphal, September 28 2009:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has fondly remembered Lamyanba Hijam Irabot on the occasion of the late leader's birth anniversary which falls on September 30 .
Recalling the heroics, sacrifices and contributions of Hijam Irabot, a statement issued by the RPF's Publicity Secretary T Leishemba described Irabot as a true leader of the people.
For all his exemplary sacrifices, Hijam Irabot is still alive in the minds of the people.
Hijam Irabot was one rare leader who could identify with the suffering people and inspire the common mass.
Saying that Irabot was also a true visionary, the outfit asserted that it's time for the people to identify the aspirations of the late leader and struggle towards this end in order make the people a free nation.
Commenting on the sorry state of affairs prevailing in Manipur, the RPF observed thousands of people have been killed by HIV/AIDS while security forces have also been enjoying the liberty to kill people at will.
The conduct of the rich men turned politicians of the state has been only multiplying the plight of the mass.
Lamyanba Irabot sacrificed his life for a society free from exploitation and discrimination.
But today are being gagged by the state.
The people are suffering atrocities in greater degree than at the hands of Awa soldiers during the period of Seven Years Devastation, the outfit alleged.
The incumbent Government led by O Ibobi is not a government of the people but a government run forcibly with money funded by New Delhi.
Noting that the two women's wars of 1904 and 1939 were between British soldiers armed with rifles and bayonets and unarmed women, the outfit asserted that any people who know the history of the two wars would never describe the British as a brave nation.
But Chief Minister O Ibobi is most willingly enacting the same practice of the British soldiers today.
Asserting that police commandos have been assaulting tirelessly against womenfolk who have been protesting against the killing spree unleashed by the Government, the outfit assumed that all such cruel practices took place because of the absence of a single politician having any trait of Irabot's character.
Saying that it's time for the people to follow the footsteps of the leader who went to jungles and mountains leaving behind an easy life, the outfit called upon the people to take a firm and collective resolution within this month of September for a revolution and a future peaceful society.
