A 28 year old man who impersonated as a cadre of the KCP and teamed up with police commandos and worked under the directives of a Major of AR to let loose a reign of terror amongst the civilian by giving false information was awarded the capital punishment today late evening by the UNLF.
The deceased is identified as Khwairakpam Pradip of Sekmai bazar son of Dinamani an IAS officer.
Pradip is survived by his son, daughter and wife.
Pradip was produced before media persons at a place somewhere between Ukhrul and Imphal East district today wherein a spokesman of the outfit detailed the activities of Pradip.
"Pradip worked in the transport business.
He incurred heavy losses after one of his vehicles met with an accident at Nagaland and thereafter he started impersonating underground cadres to earn money," said the spokesman.
Intent on earning some easy money, Pradip teamed up with a police commando of Imphal East and a KCP cadre and got a share of rice and kerosene from the FCS, charged the spokesman.
Pradip bore the responsibility of selling the extorted goods.
Not only this, Pradip also got in touch with a Major of the Assam Rifles and started sharing information about the armed movements, said the spokesman of the UNLF.
Thereafter he fed wrong information to the Major which led to the arrest of many persons including Kh Dharam Singh, Angom Juge, Nirmal, Chandrajit and Mijalen.
They all are from Sekmai.
The wrong information was fed by Pradip for personal retribution.
For effecting the arrest, the Major took Rs 5 thousand for each person, charged the outfit.
Detailing the misdeeds of Pradip, the spokesman said that last Monday, Pradip met the DC of Imphal East and assured that he would take up the responsibility of any demand for rice, sugar and kerosene served by any underground outfits, said the spokesman.
He assured that he would negotiate on behalf of two underground outfits.
Pradip also took a huge amount of money from a man at Khurkhul on the promises of supplying sugar.
He is also associated with a hill based UG group to earn money.
The spokesman of the UNLF also warned all the associates of Pradip to surrender to the outfit soon or else face the consequences.
