Imphal, October 09 2012:
The Govt.of Manipur's rigid stand of not to set up Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) centres in all the hill districts other than the two specified valley districts on the alleged ground of lack of infrastructures and technical difficulties is totally baseless, dismissed the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF-AMN).
"The Joint Committee of Hill District Students' Organisation (JCHDSO) which is a conglomerate of different student organizations representing all hill districts of Manipur demanding for setting up examination centres in all the hill districts is a reasonable and genuine demand.
There are some organizations both from the valley and the hills endorsing the JCHDSO's genuine demand with one valley legislator joining it," it claimed.
The JCHDSO has been demanding for setting up TET examination centres in the hill districts so that each and every educated person avails the opportunity equally.
The purpose and policy of formulating TET as pre-qualification with possession of pass certificate of TET as compulsory for any person who intends to become a teacher is an intention to recruit capable person as teacher therefore, the jurisdiction of exploring of capable teacher should not be limited within the parameter of valley districts, ZYF president Titus Kamei asserted.
"Due to unaffordable circumstances to meet the travelling expenses and other expenditures to be involved to come down in Imphal where valley districts are located and as identified for exam centre, there is great possibility that most capable teachers may be left out if TET exam centres are only confined in specific valley districts.
The State Govt.should not deviate from the reality that the TET is for recruitment of capable teachers, as such getting equal privilege and opportunity in employment and job by all citizens is rights of every citizen which provision is clearly mentioned in the Indian Constitution," Titus pointed out.
He then said the State Govt.claimed that understanding between the State Govt.and Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) has already reached as such no examination centres in the hill districts for this year is not justified at all considering from the point of view especially the jurisdiction and representation of KSO as it is a student's organization representing only their respective community and not as for entire hill districts.
"Such problems could have been avoided had the State Govt.invited all the student's organizations of different hills district for joint discussion without single out the KSO.
The alleged understanding with the Govt-KSO has very much aggrieved the tribal people of hill districts which amounts to deprivation job opportunity.
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) strongly supports the genuine demand of JCHDSO and co-operation will be rendered towards the plan of democratic agitation," the ZYF leader added.
