Investment clearance granted for 3 projects

The Planning Commission has granted investment clearance for Khuga Multipurpose Project, Thoubal Multi-purpose Project and Dolaithabi Barrage Project.
The Planning Commission today sent all the documents related to investment clearance of the three irrigation projects to the State Government.
As such, it is likely that the State Government would receive funds for Accelerated Irrigation Beneficial Programme (AIBP) within the current month.
In case the Planning Commission releases funds for these projects, the State's financial condition may improve to some extent, conveyed a source.
Incidentally, the State could not obtain AIBP fund of Rs 220 crores last year.
Investment clearance given by the Planning Commission for Dolaithabi Barrage Project is for Rs 360.05 crore.
It was targeted to complete this project during 2013-14 and project account should be closed by March 31, 2014 .

As per guidelines, the State Government should impose necessary restrictions to ensure that no extra money larger than the amount fixed by the Planning Commission is spent on the project.
In case, extra fund is utilised on the project and the project cost is reviewed, investment of funds from AIBP head would be stalled.
The State Government has been instructed to ensure that the project authority seeks approval of the Command Area Development Plan from the Planning Commission, and implement the project in such a manner that it is beneficial to farmers for an enduring period.
The project which would be monitored by the Planning Commission includes one 78.75 metres long barrage.
A target has been already set for the project to irrigate 7545 hectares of agricultural land annually.
