Distribution of public distribution (PDS) items have been affected as employees of the state food and civil supply department at Sangaiporou, Imphal have suspended issued of the same in protest against the detention of the three officials of the department even it do not affect in the offloading of items in the godowns, allegedly on extortion demand.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case on the kidnapping of an official of the state fishery department on Monday last by suspected undergrounds from its office.
The suspension of the issue of the PDS items from the FCS godowns was suspended since yesterday as a mark of protest against the kidnapping and detention of three district supply officer, (DSO) of the state FCS department namely S Iboton (Imphal west district supply officer) hailing from Palace Compound, W Deven (Imphal east district supply officer) of Soibam Leikai, Wangkhei Khunou and Th Bhumeshore (Bishnupur district supply officer) of Chinga Makha Chanam Leikai on last Friday (January 30) .
There has no development regarding the release of the abducted officers till date, a source from the FCS office said.
The director of the department has also seated at transport directorate and other officials of the department are also absent from the office since the abduction apparently fear on the prevailing atmosphere in the office, the source added.
The attendances of the staffs of the department also sharply reduce due to the cease work strike of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Meanwhile, whereabouts of the an officer of the state fishery directorate office, Lamphel named Huidrom Biramani Singh of Sagolband Moirang Leirak kidnapped at gun point by two unknown persons suspected to be undergrounds on Monday could not be traced out till today, a source from the department said.
He was kidnapped from his office by the two unknown persons at gun point at around 12.50 pm.
The kidnappers taken away him along with his maruti car (MN-1A/7884), the FIR case registered at the Lamphel police station stated.
The family as well as officials of the fishery department is yet to know the motive behind the abduction of the officer.
