Like done in the previous years, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) is all set for the observation of 45th "Chaklam Khongchat (Hunger Marcher Day)" on August 27 .
This year the day will be observed under the theme "Ekhoida Cheng Pjanghallu, Khutsembigi Oiba Cheng Tangba Thok-hanganu, Potcheigi Mammal Government-na Leppu", said president of the student body, Irengbam Jamesbond today in a press briefing held at its office at DM College campus.
All arrangement for the observation of the day at Pishum Chinga Macha has been completed, he said asserting that the programme will begin from 3 am of the day with "Yaikairol" and offering of floral tributes will start from 9 am.
After offering the floral tributes, the students will take out a rally on the streets passing through Keishamthong, Wahengbam Leikai, Nagamapal, Khoyathong and converged at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband where a public meeting will be held starting from 11 am.
A blood donation, which would be held in connection with the occasion at the AMSU head office, will start from 10 am, he said appealing to the students to donate blood on the occasion.
Students from other districts like Thoubal, Bishnupur, Imphal East are expected to take part in the observance function.
Transport arrangements have also been made for picking up them from different places, Jamesbond added.
Mention may be made that AMSU has been organising the day to mark the day on which students rose up against artificial food scarcity in 1965 that killed three students in police action.
