SHDDC too lifts bandh, economic blockade on

The Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) has lifted its 'general strike' in Sadar Hills area after 35 days from the midnight of September 6.However, the economic blockade will continue.
Announcing its decision today, the SHDDC said considering the immense suffering of the public they have decided to lift the bandh.
The decision of the SHDDC comes after a day the United Naga Council (UNC) had lifted its total bandh.
With these developments, there will be free flow of passenger buses, taxis and private vehicles except for goods carrying vehicles.
The SHDDC had imposed the indefinite economic blockade since August 1.The blockade was turned into total indefinite bandh from August 2 following the death of three persons in a blockade related incident.
On August 21, Nagas under the banner of United Naga Council imposed counter bandh in "Naga areas" against any move to bifurcate "Naga areas" for the creation of new districts.
