Spreading the message of peace and unity among the people, the golden jubilee celebration of Upper Kom Keirap Baptist Church was celebrated at Upper Kom Keirap village, near Loktak project area.
The two-day long celebration which concluded today was held under the theme of 'His love is eternal'.
In his address as the main speaker of the function, executive secretary of Kom Rem Baptist Churches' Association (KRBCA), Manipur Rev Asong Leivon said love is God's greatest gift to mankind.
Without love everything else is meaningless.
So all the people living in Manipur should love each other, he exhorted.
Reading out passages from the Bible, he said love is the most potent force for which people could even laid down their lies.
Love Feeling of enmity and hatred would evaporate in the face of love.
Rev Asong noted that 50 years of service by a Church is a long period.
It is like attainment of maturity in th life of a person, he said, while expressing hope that the Upper Kom Keirap Church would continue to render its service and spread the message of peace among the people.
MLA of Henglep A/C T Manga Vaiphei who was also present at the occasion, said God would not forsaken people as long as they have faith on Him.
The MLA also assured the gathering that he would see to it that the community hall in the village which has been under construction for so long is completed within the current month and donated a sum of Rs 5000 to the chairman of Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee L Yamthang Kom.
The second and concluding day of the celebration commenced with the welcome address delivered by pastor of Kom Keirap Baptist Church S Ngamboi Kom and was attended by many personalities including president of National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) Ch Rajketan.
Speaking at the occasion, Rajketan observed that people enter a temple or a church without any malice in their hearts.
It is from the light emanated from such House of the Lord that people could be bound together.
Earlier, Superintendent Pastor of Kom Keirap Area L Somo unveiled the Golden Jubilee memorial stone which was donated in memory of late T Risokhup by his family members.
