A one day Networking Meeting organised by RIAC-IWCDC under the aegis of Manipur State AIDS Control Society was held at Punnya Nawa Yaiphakol today.
A statement issued by RIAC (IWCDC) informed that the meeting of the tournament was participated by many representatives of several NGOs and government officials.
Outreach worker of RIAC (IWCDC), Usham Dharmendra presented the objectives of the meeting.
District AIDS Officer of Imphal West, Dr H Nimaichand spoke on the present scenario of HIV/AIDS.
He asserted that people under 30 years are more prone to HIV infection.
Taking part in the programme, District TB officer of Imphal West, AK Khaba addressed the topic of co-infection of HIV/AIDS and TB.
He observed that awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS and TB should go hand in hand.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of RRTC, Dr A Jayantkumar expressed wish to build up a resource pool by imparting thorough training to school teachers on HIV/AIDS.
Today's programme was also attended by senior medical officers of ART centre, RIMS, A Vivekananda, Radharani, general secretary of Nurse Association, JN Hospital, Dr RK Rupobati, joint secretary of Indian Academy of Paediatrics, representatives of several NGOs, Self Help Groups and school principals.
The programme culminated with the vote of thanks presented by chief functionary of IWCDC, Annie Mangsatabam.
