As a part of the 'Run for Peace' programme organised by different establishments of security forces in the State, the 22 Maratha Light Infantry today organised a similar Run which was flagged off by Col Harzinder Singh from Utlou and wound up at Malom.
Volunteers of local clubs, school students and sports persons numbering about 450 took part in the race with numerous placards dedicated to peace.
Meanwhile a similar Run participated by about 600 youths, was organised by 34 AR today which was set off from its Khongjom post before finishing at the same spot.
The Run set off by Coy Commander of the post was attended by many local leaders.
Likewise 34 AR also organised another such Run today at Yairipok which was flagged off by Col TS Sinha and attended by MLA Nimaichand Luwang as chief guest.
About 500 persons took part in the Run.
In the 'Run for Peace' organised by 14 AR under the aegis of 27 sector AR at Kangpokpi, hundreds of youths and students took part.
While talking to reporters after setting off the Run, Maj Gen BS Ghotra observed that peace has become the need of the hour in the North East particularly in Manipur.
A free medical camp was conducted by the doctors of AR in which about 500 persons were given medical treatment and medicines distributed free of cost.
