An attempt to burn down effigies of Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Ukhrul District Autonomous Council (ADC) Ningam Chongloi and Tribal Development minister, DD Thaisii in Ukhrul district headquarter was foiled by police today.
Volunteers of Tangkhul Kadamnao Sanglong (TKS) attempted to burn down the effigies alleging that the holding of interview for appointment of primary teachers of schools under the ADC in five hill districts lack clarity as it did not clearly mention the seats reserved for different categories.
The body is demanding clear cut on the seat reserved for the general, scheduled tribe and scheduled case candidates which TKS alleged not stated at the time of calling application for the appointment through the district employment exchange.

Interview of the recruitment 1,186 primary teachers of the school run under the ADC was held centres arrange by the ADC across the five hill districts and Kangpokpi and Moreh sub-divisions.
The interview was held without disturbances in all the centres with promulgations of restriction of gathering of five or more in the periphery of the exam centres under CrPC 144 .
The attempt to disturb the interview centre at Ukhrul district headquarter was also foiled by the police.
Even though the interview was held, TKS will continue its agitation demanding clear cut on the seat reservation.
The force holding of interview by the authority is an instant of neglecting hill people, Whungaoshing A Shimray, president of the TKS said.
As candidates belonging to general and OBC category flocked in and attended the interview, the meaning of hill autonomous council has become a meaningless.
We condemned the unclear in the appointment process, he said.
Volunteers of TKS attempted marched towards the exam centre at Ukhrul but police blocked them before reaching the office premise with a warning not to breach the restriction under CrPC 144 promulgated in the area.
They dispersed gathering people.
