Representatives of the All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) today called on with the state chief secretary, DS Poonia and pressed for implementation of the revised 6th UGC Pay Scales to the government college teachers and enhancement of age superannuation of college teachers upto 65 years as per the revised 6th UGC scheme, a long pending demand of the teachers.
In the meeting with representatives cautioned the state government that if the UGC's 6th pay commission is not implemented before March 31, 2010, the state will loss 80% Central assistance.
State chief secretary was assisted by commissioner (higher education) and additional director (higher education), stated AMCTA in a press handout signed by its general secretary M Lokendro.
Representatives also submitted a memorandum as reminder to their long pending demand which was submitted to the state chief minister, O Ibobi on July 27.Other demands in the memorandum other than enhancement of the pay and superannuation age were filing up the vacant posts of teachers as per ordinance of the Manipur University based on UGC, appointment of regular principals of government colleges.
It also included end the issues ahead of the part-time teachers of colleges, raising of monthly allocation of fun d for GPF withdrawal/advance, regulating the terms and conditions in respect of deputation/appointment of college teachers to different institutions of higher education, fixing of intake capacities of students in the colleges in a rationalized manner.
Reservation of seats in Manipur University for doing Ph D for College teachers already in service, rectification of placement orders of college teachers in higher grades under career advancement scheme (CAS) and issue of orders for those college teachers pending in MPSC.
