Imphal, July 07 2011:
A joint meeting of the representatives of Youth Volunteer Association, Pallel; Social Development Organisation, Pallel; Ching-Tam Apunba Nupi Lup, Pallel; Pallel Women Development Organisation; Maring Uparup Assembly; Pallel Bazar Board and inhabitants of Pallel area with village chiefs held on July 5 at the office of Youth Volunteer Association, Pallel has discussed the issue related to the problem being faced by the inhabitants of Pallel and its surrounding areas while commuting from Pallel to Imphal and vice versa.
The meeting took note of the cease of Tata Winger services from Pallel to Imphal due to non-extension of the temporary contract carriage permits issued in favour of them by the authorities concerned of the Transport Department even as the service of the buses belonging to Indo-Burma Sugnu Road Bus Owners' Welfare Union, which were plying to and fro between Pallel and Imphal have also ceased service long time back.
So, after a threadbare discussion, it was unanimously resolved to approach the authorities concerned of the Transport Department to extend the contract carriage permit issued in favour of Tata Wingers within July 15 in due consideration of the problems being faced by the local inhabitants.
The joint meeting further resolved to launch a series of agitations including indefinite vehicular bandh along NH-39 in Pallel area with effect from 5 am of July 16 if the demand is not fulfilled.
