Lamka, July 07 2011:
The Kukis today observed the day of unanimity with thousands of them flocking to Suongpi village, barely 7 kms from here to witness the ceremony of erecting a pillar that signifies Kuki Liberty and Fraternity.
The Kuki people from all walks of life assembled at a tiny hilltop overlooking the district headquarters Lamka today to witness and be a part in what was widely assumed to be the fulfilment of what the 'Divine' has entrusted the Kuki people to do so.
It is pertinent to mention here that today's event was an offshoot of what a Myanmarese-Mizo lady known as Parchi has claimed was what God wants the Kuki people to do so.
Parchi claimed that she is a God send 'messiah' for the unity of the Kukis and it was at her direction that the pillar of fraternity and liberty was erected here.
Attended by many top ranking leaders of the armed group KNO, its armed wings and the Kuki society, today's ceremony began with a rally from Peace Ground, Tuibuong till Public Ground at Hiangtam Lamka prior to the main ceremony at Suongpi village.
Every details of today's event from the unfurling of flag, the beating of gong and the intermittent gun salute after an interval of ten beatings, were overseen by the lady hail as 'God send' because she wishes that everything goes the way the Divine had preached so.
