In a move to show altruism to the people, the Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) has recovered booties from a looter and handed the same to the owners.
According to a statement issued by the information and publicity secretary of ZSUM, Chonlubu, one Tinkojan Damgnei, son of Gangbi Danmei of Noney Bazar in Tamenglong district looted Rs 11,100 and two mobile handsets from Thangminlun Haokip (27) and Demmang Haokip (29) of E Leijang village on September 3 around 9pm at Awangkhul village on NH 53. The two persons were travelling in a Winger Tata vehicles while they were looted.
Following complain from the two passengers, the executives of ZSUM went to the spot and retrieved the booties from the raider.
The students' body leaders had also handed the robbed materials to the owners.
The ZSUM statement also appealed all concerned to stop different kinds of loot and extortions along NH 53.
