Imphal, September 10, 2009:
Undeterred by police action, activists of the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup continued to launch poster campaign against the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident of police firing that left two persons killed while five others wounded.
Continuing the campaign, women activists of the Apunba Lup pasted the posters, which depict pictures of slain Rabina lying inside the coffin, her 7-month old foetus inside an earthern pot and the series of photographs that National magazine Tehelka have published to prove that Sanjit was killed by the police commandos in fake encounter, on either side of Imphal-Ukhrul Road at Khurai area, on the walls of hotel, shops and community halls as well as other public places.
The posters are also inscribed with strongly worded slogans like 'Stop State Terrorism', 'Repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act', 'Punish Criminal Commandos', 'Resign Chief Minister O Ibobi ', etc.
After taking a close look at the posters, one of the local women lamented that inspite of the public outrage against fake encounters, the Government and its security forces have not heeded.
She said that the September 8 incident of killing six persons in alleged shoot out with security forces, which has come even while the public are demanding justice over the July 23 police firing, was condemnable.
