A 24-hour statewide general strike has been called by a local JAC formed in connection with the killing of Md Rehman by the security force on Tuesday even as a body of the rickshaw pullers has decided to launch several forms of agitations against the killing of their colleague, Md Tomba.
Meanwhile, minor son of the slain Md Tomba today chanted towards the police that he will take avenge against his father killers during a protest at Mayang Imphal Bengoon which police dispersed by firing tear gas and lathi-charge.
Imphal-Tata Sumo driver servicing along the Imphal-Moreh route have also decided to suspend their service along the road indefinitely effective from today.
Md Rehman, Tata Sumo Driver and Md Tomba, rickshaw puller were among the six killed by the combined force at Awang Khunou in Imphal west on Tuesday night.
Convener of the JAC formed in connection with killing of Md Rehman, Tata Sumo driver, Haji Arafat announced the imposition of a 24-hour statewide bandh commencing from midnight of September 11 which would be concluded midnight of September.
Speaking to media persons, he said that Rehaman who has been resided at the rented house at Hatta Gollapati, Imphal was a person who earn livelihood by servicing Tata Sumo along the Imphal-Moreh route.
He was killed after abduction in fake encounter by the security force.
The father of slain Rehman who also present in the press conference and asked what the fault of his son and who will take the responsibility of running the family stating that he was the main bread earner of the family.
The JAC is demanding the finding of truth behind the killing of Rehman in "fake encounter".
They also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister, O Ibobi today.
On the other hand, locals of Mayang Imphal Bengoon today staged a sit-in protest at the locality which a team of Mayang Imphal police dispersed by firing tear gas and lathi-charge the women participating in the protest against the killing of Md Tomba who was killed together with Md Rehman.
Decrying the police action, womenfolk confronted with the police resulting the police to lathi-charge them.
Highly agitated minor son of Tomba chanted the police that he will take avenge to his father killing one which surprised both police and protesting women.
Decrying the killing of rickshaw puller, Md Tomba, All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Puller Welfare Association today announced they will also launch agitation against the killing.
He has been worked as rickshaw puller for the last 15 years.
They asked the chief minister, O Ibobi to resign on moral ground taking responsibility of the fake encounter.
