Imphal, February 08 2009:
The chairman of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has conveyed greetings to all the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 22nd foundation day of the Manipur People's Army (MPA), army wing of the UNLF, which falls on February 9 .
In a message of greetings, chairman Sanayaima stated that till today, under the right guidance of the party, the MPA has been relentlessly fighting against the enemies to restore the independence sovereignty of Manipur.
A number of enemy soldiers who have been subjecting the people of Manipur to torture and subjugation have died in the hands of the MPA, and many others had returned to their country after having been wounded and maimed.
On the other hand, a number of MPA cadres had also sacrificed their lives during the struggle for independence.
This is the price that has to be paid by the people of Manipur for freedom, and until paying this price is over, many courageous soldiers of MPA are prepared to sacrifice their lives, Chairman Sanayaima stated in his message.

He further reminded the people of Manipur of what kind of people of society are the army of MPA who are sacrificing their lives in the course of the struggle for liberation.
The number of persons who were born in the rich families and were sent for education to different parts of India, who joined the liberation struggle is not much.
Most of those who joined the MPA are youths born in poor families, who were deprived of opportunity for higher education, but who just simply love their motherland so much.
Among them are youths whose vegetable selling mothers alone were left at home, only younger sisters were left, since their fathers had been drowned in intoxicants, they were deprived of opportunity for education, then orphans and homeless, etc.
They are the revolutionary army of MPA whose lives are dedicated to the struggle for restoration of freedom of their motherland by fighting against the enemy IOF, Chairman Sanayaima affirmed.

However, although most of the youths who joined the MPA belong to poverty stricken families, the struggle is not a class war meant for only the poor.
It is a national liberation struggle which will determine the future fate of the entire people of Manipur irrespective of poor and rich, Sanayaima stressed.
