Imphal, October 10 2009:
The outlawed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has expressed gratitude to all concerned who have involved in the successful celebration of the outfit's 32nd anniversary yesterday.
In a statement, PREPAK's publicity in-charge, Aheiba Angom informed that the outfit celebrated its 32nd anniversary at its general headquarters, tactical, unit headquarters, transit camp, and training centres by unfurling the outfit's seven-colour flag.
Reading out of the outfit vice-chairman's message, encouragement address and offering of floral tribute and observance of tw0-minute silence to show respect to departed cadres of the outfit marked the celebration, it stated.
In his statement, Aheiba Angom pointed out that the Kingdom of Manipur since the reign of Nongda Lairen Pakhangba in 33AD to the reign of Maharaja Bodhachandra (1941-1955) was ruled by 76 kings peacefully and prosperously.
During some transaction period (Seven Years Devastation, Anglo Manipur War, Merger Agreement etc) the Kingdom suffered at the hands of the then Awa (Myanmar), British and Indian rulers.
The state was once liberated from the British yoke.
However, the state has been put under the colonial rule by forcing Maharaja Bodhachandra to sign the Merger Agreement at Shillong.
