A Cabinet meeting of the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government held today reportedly decided to expeditiously resolve all the pending cases registered in police stations by entrusting the task to Additional Superintendents of Police.
Speaking to newspersons, SPF spokesman and IFC Minister N Biren confided that the Cabinet meeting presided by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh discussed thoroughly on the pending judicial cases and resolved in solving these cases at the earliest.
Moreover, the meeting decided on appointment of six ASPs (Operations) for the districts/sub-divisions of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Jiribam and Moreh in order to ensure expeditious disposal of the pending cases.
Further confiding that the ASPs would be assisted by five DSP ranked police officers, the Minister said procedural steps had been initiated for the appointment and subsequent utilisation of two DSPs in the police stations of Imphal East, and one each in Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts.
Conceding that cases pending in these police stations have been an important factor for the public feeling aggrieved, Biren said the SPF Government is determined to ensure expeditious solution to such cases.
He also stated that for establishments of a rehabilitation centre, as well as training centres for the IRB, Manipur rifles and subsidiary security agents the Cabinet approved earmarking of 10 percent premium amount for the land acquisition.
Another issue consented at the Cabinet meeting pertains to three percent job reservation for physically handicapped candidates in Government appointments and extensive coverage of activities of the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation for which it was decided that service of a retired Chief Engineer would be utilised.
It is also informed that the State Cabinet took serious note of student bodies enforcing class boycott even though the Minister refrained from divulging details on Government steps to resume academic activities.
