A 21-year old youth old youth who was picked up by suspected activists of the proscribed PULF from his house was found shot dead at Moijing Meena Bazar at around 11 pm yesterday.
The victim has been identified as Md Ithem alias Ningthem alias Imdadur (21) of Moijing Wangma Taba.
He had been reportedly picked up by suspected underground activists of PULF from his house at around 6 pm yesterday.
Thoubal Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and the body was picked up for post-mortem.
The post-mortem was conducted at Lilong PHC and the body handed over to family members.
Meanwhile, claiming the responsibility of killing Md Ithem s/o Md Tasang of Thoubal Moijing, Peoples' United Liberation Front (PULF) has explained that he was killed for having run away from the party with arms and not heeding the repeated summons to surrender the same.
With the help of the arms he took away along with him, Md Ithem had been extorting money from the people and terrorising them, secretary of the publicity cell of the outfit Saroj Khan informed in a statement.
Apart from giving stern warning of awarding capital punishment to all those who have also ran away with arms if they do not surrender to the outfit, the statement has also asked Md Abbas and Md Alam, both residents of Moijing to surrender within five days.
While stating that all those who were involved in killing Pureiremba have been identified, the outfit further asked of all of them to surrender with five days and warned of awarding capital punishment if they fail to do so.
