Revolutionary Peoples' Front (RPF) has awarded capital punishment to a person who worked as an informer of the Assam Rifles and was responsible for the killing of a cadre of its armed wing PLA identified as Pte Leichil alias Chand by a combined force of 21 Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos on December 21 at Khordak Machin.
According to a statement issued by the chief of department of communication and publicity of the outfit N Wangba, the alleged informer who was eliminated at around 6.20 pm today is identified as Md Ahamad Ali (42) s/o late Yaima and Amirjan of Komlathong Kanuma Iren.
Wangba informed that Md Ahamad Ali was working as an informer under Major Alpha (Code name) of 21 Assam Rifles and used to communicate and supply information of the outfit through two persons namely Anand Singh and Sanjoy Singh of 21 Assam Rifles.
Assam Rifles had also issued a mobile phone Nokia 1100 to Md Ahamad for the same purpose, Wangba said, adding that Md Ahamad was made to contact the Assam Rifles over the mobile phone after being arrested today and the conversation that took place between him and the Assam Rifles has been taped.
Wangba further informed Md Ahamad himself confessed that he wore an Army uniform at the time of killing Pte Chand by the combined force of Assam Rifles and Thoubal police commandos, apart from disclosing that another informer, a Meetei Pangal waited near the Khordak bridge.
The telephone numbers recovered from Md Ahamad are 09436211343 belonging to Major Alpha (Code name) of AR post at Keirak and 09856204823 of AR, Wangba said, adding that the names and addresses of another three persons involved in killing of Pte Chand have also been disclosed by Md Ahamad during the course of interrogation.
RPF would be investigating to find out the veracity of the claimed and would accordingly take up appropriate action, Wangba said.
