SFI approves new office bearers

The annual conference of Students' Federation of India, Manipur State Committee has approved appointment of new bearers besides adopting a 14-point resolution, said Committee secretary Pari Luwang.
Speaking to newspersons at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel this afternoon, Pari said the conference held yesterday decided to demand total repealing of the draconian Armed Forces' Special Power Act 1958; urge the Supreme Court to issue directive for framing an effective law to protect students of the north Eastern States from racial discrimination; hand over the Richard Loitam case to the CBI; 30 percent budgetary allocation for the education sector, including 10 percent for higher education; frame state Education Policy; extend Right to Education Act upto class 12 standard; policy for the minority and weaker section of the society; uniform fee ceiling for both private and Government educational institutions along with accountability; and form a school regularity body of the Government.
These resolutions along with others adopted at the conference would be presented to the Chief Minister in the form of a memorandum, said Pari while informing that Th Mocha and Md Azad Ali would be the new president and secretary of the Committee.
