Imphal, October 10:
Even as the indefinite Chandel district bandh called by Anal Lenruwl Taangpi (ALT) since October 5 has been called off today, Joint Action Committee for Recruitment of Primary Teachers under Autonomous District Council of Chandel District has imposed a total bandh in the district from midnight today till 6 pm tomorrow to boycott the visit of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh tomorrow.
On the contrary, Anal Naga Taangpi (ANTA) has stated that it would welcome the visit of the Chief Minister and his entourage to Chandel district headquarters so that they could take stock of the ongoing agitation launched by the contractors, bus owners and Chandel public.
In a statement jointly signed by its convenor T Shangmun Maring and co-convenors Joyson Anal and Letmang Haokip, the JAC announced that the bandh is being called intentionally to coincide with the scheduled visit of the Chief Minister.
Contending that protracted delay in holding the DPC in respect of Chandel district is discriminatory in view of the fact that DPCs for recruitment of primary teachers in other hill districts have already been conducted long time back, the JAC said this dilly-dallying tactics of the authority concerned is highly condemnable.
Setting October 20 as deadline for holding the DPC, the JAC has also warned of adopting all sort of agitations to further the cause if the Govt fail to comply with the demand.
On the other hand, Anal Naga Taangpi has announced that it would extend warm welcome to Chief Minister and his entourage to pay a visit to Chandel district headquarters to take stock of the ongoing agitation launched by the contractors, bus owners and Chandel public.

While reiterating and affirming that the Chief Minister should come to the district headquarters by road as part of spot inquiry of the deplorable condition of the Pallel-Chandel road, the ANTA statement further appealed to all the organisations including the student bodies to give free passage to Chief Minister and his entourage.
With the suspension of its indefinite total Chandel district bandh called over the alleged non-implementation of the Rs 24 crores project for construction of Pallel-Chandel road following positive response from the Government, the Anal students' body, Anal Lenruwl Taangpi (ALT) also announced its decision of welcoming the visit of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to Chandel district headquarters tomorrow.
The students' body, however, made it clear that it would resume with the agitation if the Government fails to implement its second charter of demand related to completion of water supply scheme under NLCPR at the district headquarters.
