Imphal, December 28 2010:
Works Minister K Ranjit today mocked the state Communist Party of India terming it as a leech.
In a veiled threat he said that Congress enjoys the support of MPP MLAs.
In the 125th Foundation Day celebration function of AICC held at Kakching Khunou today, Ranjit said that CPI had at one time taken a major role in forming SPF government and therefore CM O Ibobi has a soft corner for the CPI.
This is the sole reason why the CPI is still in the government even though the Congress reigns dominant.
Comparing the CPI to a leech, Ranjit said that they will withdraw from the SPF government as soon as their stomach gets filled.
The minister said that this is the answer to the CPI's criticism of the Congress in relation to the ensuing Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections.
He said CPI's Dr Nara considered to be well educated has started talking deliriously due to the intense pressure of continuously losing in the elections.
Ranjit said that the ADC elections were held with to bring unity and integration between the people in the hills and the people in the valley.
He claimed that the Congress swept the elections as a result of its dedication for the welfare of the state especially for the hill peoples and that it is very important for the Congress to win the local body elections for a better governance in the state.
Ranjit while recalling the allotment of pattas to the people of Umathel by him, refuted claims that he took bribes in the recruitment of 168 VDF personnel.
Ranjit said that if he had accepted a single paise in connection with the recruitment God will strike him dead instantaneously.
In his speech, YAS Minister N Biren expressed his happiness to see the once anti Congress people of Kakching Khunou standing by the Congress party.
He appealed to the people not to succumb to the promises of the CPI or the MPP.
He said that CPI is a party crying out only for the workers.
He reminded that West Bengal freed itself from the grip of the CPI.
Biren said that the Congress is not a party which performs and not resort to talk.
On the other hand, blood sucking groups in the hills, like the CPI, are indulging in breaking the integrity of the state.
MP Thangso Baite said that persons like Mani Charenamei are now done away with.
He also thanked the people of Kakching for electing him as MP in the 15th Lok Sabha Election.
He said that he will do his best to press the union government to fulfill the wishes of the people of the state.
He urged the people to get involved in developmental work instead of resorting to criminalism.
MLA E Dwijamani alleged that CPI is bringing disgrace to the fame of Neta Irabot.
He said, Irabot was a person who loved the Congress.
Dwijamani supported his claim by saying that Irabot wore the Congress cap in the Chinga Session of the Congress party.
MLA Bijoy Koijam taunted by saying that he wears black tinted glasses to obscure the unwanted glare of the CPI's red flag.
