To complete my father's dreams: E Suraj
"I'm not a gifted politician.
I did not think that I would be in politics, but the sudden demise of my father, who had left many works for the development of Yaiskul constituency unaccomplished, compelled me to fulfill his cherished dreams," said Congress candidate for the coming Yaiskul by-poll, Elangbam Suraj, the eldest son of late E Kunjakishore.
Elangbam Suraj observed that Yaiskul is one of the most retarded constituencies in Imphal area.
He said, my father had implemented many developmental works to develop the constituency.
He unfortunately passed away without completing his dreams and wishes.
With pressure from many Congress workers and well wishers to contest the by-election, I have come out to contest the election, Suraj said.
I have no fear to fight Congress: H Jaydev
"I have no fear to compete with the candidate of the ruling government as the fate of a candidate solely rests on people's votes," said Hanjabam Jaydev (Gandhi), an Independent candidate, said to be the main opponent of the Congress, in the coming Yaiskul by-election.
He said, he was elected twice as councilor on Congress ticket in the IMC.
"Since I was associated with the Congress as its worker for a long period, I don't want to take a swipe at the party," Jaydev said.
However, he said, it is a very wrong step to give the party ticket to junior members thereby ignoring the senior member.
He believes that the clouds that shrouded the Khwairamband incident would be surely exposed in the coming election.
He wants to bring in a change in the constituency while he is also optimistic of getting the support of 99% of the voters.
To rectify politicians: S Rajendrakumar
"I have come out to set right the manner of many self-seeking politicians who entered into politics to try to break the integrity of the state," former editor of Toknga, Soubam Rajendrakumar, who is also a JD (S) candidate in the coming by-poll to Yaiskul AC asserted. He also said that he is contesting the election to give a defeating blow to the Congress, during whose rule the land is filled with daily killing incidents and violation of human rights.
Rabina and Sanjit vs Cong:A Jagdish
"The ensuing by-election would be a battle of Rabina and Sanjit versus Congress," Aribam Jagdish, another Independent candidate for the coming by-poll said.
He said he had done many works for the people as a worker of various political parties like Samata Party, Lok Jan Shakti Party, BJP, and Congress.
Feeling the need to bring in a change, he said, he is contesting the coming election to facilitate a change in the present trend of killings.
