Imphal, May 02 2010:
"Agitating Government employees particularly in the Manipur Secretariat offices who were supposed to streamline official works for the Dtate have become a useless lot as of now", fumed Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today, reports NNN.
Ibobi stated this while interacting with media persons at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal to take stock of the developmental scenario of the Institute prior to the proposed visit of a team from the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Unsatisfied with the job performances under-taken by the agitating secretariat employees, the Chief Minister said that extra staff adds to the adipose of the employees and rather than performing their jobs, they prefer to agitate, raising demands after demands.
This is a serious cause of concern in the governance of the State.
"All employees from the high posts to lowest grades including Manipur Civil Service (MCS) officers and Section Officers (SO) got together to protest, disturbing the normal functions and protocols of the Secretariat norms", added O Ibobi Singh.
He further said that some of the employees in the higher posts could not even write a sentence in English correctly.
He then said the Government will fill some of the vacant posts by recalling those pensioners particularly those who were holding secretary level jobs including Under Secretary,
etc.
The State Government will opt for streamlining the Secretariat service rule at the earliest, the Chief Minister asserted.
On the visit of MCI official team's visit to Manipur, Ibobi Singh informed that they will be arriving in Imphal in the month of May probably in the first week to inspect the JNIMS infrastructures-to be on par with the given guidelines of the authority.
Crossing his fingers, he said, "We (the people of Manipur) should pray to God that the MCI give us (recommendation) what we wanted all this while".
On the JNIMS complex beautifications, the Chief Minister said that the Government will rope in experts including from Forest Department and Horticulture Department.
