Citizen Volunteer Training Centre (CVTC) organised a one-day exposure programme for the village development committees at Shantipur Community Hall under Andro Assembly Constituency yesterday.
The programme presided over by CVDC project co-ordinator and director in-charge Th Rajen was attended by representatives of various Village Development Committees of Andro and other parts of Imphal East district.
The main objective of the programme was to discuss the activities of the VDCs and to empower VDCs to take up the programmes of the CVDC.
Since its inception in 1977, CVDC has executed four water supply schemes and constructed Andro Kharam Leikai Santhei dam, market sheds and waiting sheds at various places besides having organised various awareness and training programmes.
With funding from CVDC efforts are also being made to construct a pond at Shantipur village to ameliorate the problem of scarcity of water being faced by the villager.
One village identified as Kh Dorendro said after the arrival of CVDC, the problem of water scarcity in Andro has been reduced to a large extend.
