Junior scientist in the Manipur Remote Sensing and Application Centre Manipur RK Sunita who was already conferred the Map Asia Award 2007 was honoured by the State Government with the Appreciation Award for Excellent Achievement.
The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Map Asia Award 2007 was conferred to Sunita at Kuala Lampur in August this year for her research paper, "Catchment Characterisation of Loktak Lake Using Remote Sensing and GIS".
She read out her paper at the 5th Annual International Conference and Exhibition on Geographical Information Technology and Application held at Kuala Lampur.
Sunita was honoured by Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh at his office chamber with the Award carrying cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
She said that she is doing PhD in Barkhatulla University, Bhopal.
After she has completed mapping of the wetlands of Manipur, Sunita is at present engaged in evaluation of Pumlen Pat, she said.
Married to Ph Vivekananda of Keisamthong Top Leirak, data analyst in Environment and Ecology Wing, Sunita has a son.
