Tamenglong, November 07 2010:
At least three persons were killed and two injured in different vehicle mishaps occurred in the last 24 hour.
Two of the accident occurred in Imphal while the third one in Tamenglong district.
In the accident at Phellong village of Tamenglong district one died and two injured.
Our Tamenglong Correspondent, Daniel Kamei identified the victim as as Ngamluwang Pamai (37) son of Lungsujinang of Phellong village and the two injured persons as Rikangbou (37) of Luangdi Pabram and Lunglimbou (36) son of Chariwangbou of Luangdi Pabram.
The accident at a place 27 kilometer away from the district headquarters along the Tamenglong-Khongsang road.
The jeep meeting the mishap was traveling from Namkaoluang to Khongsang village.
Police arrested the jeep (MNP- 2872) driver of the vehicle identified as Chandrakumar Sharma (22) son of Gopal Sharma of Uripok Huidrom Laikai, Imphal after an FIR case was registered at Tamenglong police station.
Troops of 11 Assam Rifles at the Khongsang out post rushed to the spot and recovered the jeep and dead persons.
They also gave first aid to the injure persons before evacuating to Imphal.
In Imphal also two persons died in different vehicle mishaps last night.
One of the victims was identified Ingudam Sarkar (20) son of Surjit of Malom Tulihal Maning Leikai.
He died last night around 8.30 pm when a motorcycle (pulsar brand MN06SA/2161) knocked down him at Malom Makha Leikai Boroi Makhong.
The second accident occurred at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai in front of Apex Godown at about 6.30 pm when a pedestrian was knocked down by a truck bearing registration no.MN04-A/0822 .
The victim was identified as Mon Bahadur (30) of Charhajar, Kangpokpi presently residing at a rented house at Chingmeirong.
