One person has been killed while two others suffered injuries when the vehicle (4-wheeler) they were travelling on fell into a deep gorge near Khongsang in Tamenglong district at around 6.30 am today.The deceased has been identified as Ngamluang Pamei (32) of Phelong village while the injured duo is said to be Rikangbou (27) and Lunglimbou (36), both from Pabram village.One Chadrakumar Singh of Uripok, who was at the wheels when the mishap occured has been taken into custody by Tamenglong police.
It is informed that Khongsang-based 11 Assam Rifles provided first aid to the injured persons, who were also taken to District Hospital Tamenglong by troops of the AR unit.On the otherhand, a pedestrian youth was killed when a Bajaj Pulser motorcycle (MN-06S/2161) knocked him down near Malom Tulihal Merakhong culvert along Imphal-Churachandpur road last night.
According to police report, the incident occurred at around 8.50 pm yesterday.
Ingudam Sukumar (20) s/o Surjit of Malom Tulihal was walking down the road when the motorcycle knocked him down.
He was immediately rushed to RIMS Hospital but succumbed to the injuries not long after.
Police have seized the involved motorcycle though the motor cyclist have fled after committing the crime.Nambol Police station have registered a case in this regard.
