In solidarity of Irom Chanu Sharmila and her 10-year old struggle, a day long hunger strike was organised by Yuva Samvad, Bhopal at Board office square on November 2 .
The protestors demanded to repeal AFSPA from Manipur and parts of North East, to release Sharmila from custody in which she has been kept and to quash the case under section 309 of IPC clamped on Sharmila.
It may be noted that Sharmila has completed 10 years of fasting over the public demand for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur.
Meanwhile, Just Peace Foundation (JPF), Manipur has conveyed its gratefulness to all section of Manipuri society for their solidarity and co-operation towards making the just concluded week-long 'Festival of Hope, Justice and Peace', a grand success.
The festival celebrating the 'spirit of Sharmila' marks the completion of a decade of her hunger strike.
JPF has, in particularly, thanked the participation of individuals and civil society groups from within and outside Manipur as well as for organising public meetings and solidarity fast in Imphal, Kerala, Kolkata, Orissa, Bhopal, etc.
Furthermore, JPF has expressed gratefulness to the support from across the world including International organisations like the Asian Human Rights Commission (Hong Kong), Frontline (Ireland), Forum Asia (Thailand), Metta Center for Non-Violence (USA), etc.
