Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In his message, the Governor said, "Ningol Chakkouba rejuvenates family ties and strengthens the bonds of love and affection between brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters, and fathers and daughters, which ultimately help in promoting unity and integrity in society.
It is a very happy and significant occasion, on which the married women come to their parental houses, along with their children and enjoy sumptuous feast and receive Dakshina after the feast as a token of love and affection" .
The Governor expressed hope that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit in involvement of different communities in the state.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, in his message to the people, said, "Ningol Chakkouba is a grand festival of Manipur when married women and their children are invited for feast by their parents and brothers.
The festival reminds us of the enduring importance of parents-daughters relationship in our family and social structure in this day and age.
The celebration of such festivals plays an important role in spreading the message of brotherhood and harmony in the society at large" .
"May this festival foster the true spirit of love, goodwill and compassion in our society," the Chief Minister's message said.
Deputy Speaker, in-charge of Speaker, Th Lokeshwar, in a message to the people, particularly the womenfolk of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, said that the festival is an invaluabe gift handed down to the generations by our forefathers to keep the bond of love between the brothers and sisters in tact.
Ningol Chakkouba is one of the festivals which may be cited as an example of high standard of living that has been existing in Manipuri society since time immemorial, Speaker-in-charge, Lokeshwar's message said.
May the festival spread the bond of love to all communities living together in the state and make it a peaceful, prosperous and harmonious society, the Speaker-in-charge said.
MPCC President Gaikhangam also conveyed his hearteast greetings to the people of Manipur and hoped that the Ningol Chakkouba festival would strengthen love, peace and communial harmony in Manipur.
Inner Manipur MP, Dr T Meina, in his message, said that the festival strengthens the bond of love between brothers and sisters by joyous reunion and having sumptuous feast together.
CPI, Manipur State Council has also conveyed greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
GOC 57 Mountan Division, Maj Gen D S Hooda, VSM has extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkoua, and expressed his hope that the festival would enhance the spirit of unity, brotherhood among the people of Manipur.
"Let the festival usher a new era of reconciliation, peace and harmony in Manipur," said Gen Hooda.
Maj Gen CA Krishnan,IGAR(South) extended warm greetings and goodwill to 'the people of Manipur' on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkhouba.
May this festival herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst warm and friendly people of the State, the IGAR(S) added in his message.
