The highly sophisticated Interventional Cardiac Care Unit installed for the first time in the State at Catholic Medical Centre Hospital, Koireingei was inaugurated by Governor Dr SS Sidhu on January 5, said a press release issued by Asst Director CMC.
On the first day of the inauguration, five Coronary Angiograms and one Renal Angiogram was conducted by Dr Ajay Bahl, Consultant Intervention Cardiologist, PGIMER Chandigarh.
The installation of this Unit with advanced technology would immensely help cardiac patients who require urgent intervention such as heart block, myocardial infarction (heart attack), embolism, thrombosis, congenital ventricular and Atrial septal defect etc, it said.
Among the achievements of the Catholic Medical Centre Hospital established in 1995, the release mentioned laparoscopic hernia operation camp conducted by Dr Om Tantia, Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon, Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery, Kolkata in February 2006, Brachial Plexus Injury camp conducted by Dr Mukund R Thatte from Mumbai hospital in March last year and free cleft lip and cleft palate reconstructive camp on April 6 and 7 last year.
