Various programmes were held under the aegis of State level organisations to welcome the New Year 2007, Id-ul-zuha and Imoinu festivals at various locations.
With the objective of strengthening the age old bond among the indigenous people of Manipur, Apunba manipur Kanba Ima Lup welcomed the new Year 2007 in a joint celebration with local authorities and elders of Tonsen Khullen, said a Lup release.
A water tanker (Sintex) was handed over to the people of Tonsen Khullen in the presence of village chief Ringneichong, pastor L Lalmeichung and president of women society Premila Kom, it added.
At the Dimapur MSRTC complex, Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meiralup (Kwakeithel) celebrated Imoinu on December 31 last along with Dimapur Meitei Union and Arambam Luwangcha Ningthemjao Kongbamaru Laiphamlen.
In addition to joining the Id-ul-zuha festival at Oinam Sawombung Idgah Lampak on January 1 under theme 'emotional harmony', representatives of All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation participated in a Gaan-Ngai celebration at Chini Ingkhol (Chinikon) Kabui khul of Senapati district today.
Both the occasions celebrated with other organisations were marked by exchange of gifts.
National Identity Protection Committee also joined Id-ul-zuha festival celebration hosted by Hangamthabi Young Development Organisation at Lilong haoreibi College campus wherein representatives of numerous Muslim students and voluntary organisations also attended.
Id-ul-zuha festival was also celebrated by Imphal East united Clubs' Organisation with AMESCO and KSDC representatives at Khurai Khomidok Idgah Lampak yesterday.
