The New Year's Day bash turned into a tragedy in Goa's Colva beach on Monday when three students from the SASRD campus of Nagaland University drowned in the sea.
The victims included two boys Vilasietuo (21) of Meziphama village and Zaimo (22), also from Medziphema near Dimapur, and a girl Ajungla (23) from Longchar Yimyu ward, Goa police said.
Police said forty nine students from Nagaland arrived in Goa on December 30 on an all-India tour and were staying at Vasco da Gama.
The group visited the beach on Monday and a few students entered the water for a swim.
Three of them were washed away by the current and are feared drowned, police said.
Police, with the help of the Coast Guard, is continuing a search for the missing students.
